Traumatic thoracolumbar vertebral fracture and luxations in eight cats with Grade 3 or Grade 4 neurologic deficits were stabilized by spinal stapling using K-wire and orthopaedic wire. Surgical technique was easy for application under fluoroscopic guidance. Postoperatively vertebral stability was adequate and no complications related to the surgical technique were recorded. Neurological recovery and functional outcome were satisfactory in 3 cats, recovery with some disability in 4 cats but one cat died due to progressive deterioration of the condition. Overall, the spinal stapling technique was found feasible for vertebral stabilization, which provided adequate stabilization in thoracolumbar vertebral fractures and luxations in cats.
