The present study was performed in seven clinical cases of femur fractures in dogs which were repaired by String of Pearls (SOP) locking plate system and intramedullary pin construct. A 2.7 mm SOP plate was used in dogs < 10 kg body weight, and 3.5 mm SOP plate in dogs >10 kg body weight. The bone healing status was evaluated by clinical and radiographic evaluation on days 14, 30 and 60. The lameness grade was 2.85±0.55, 1.33±0.21 and 1.0±0.0 at 14th, 30th and 60th postoperative day, respectively. The average grade of radiographic healing at 90-95 days was 1.16±0.15. The functional outcome was excellent in 5/6 cases (85.71%). It was concluded that the femur fracture in dogs can be managed successfully by plate-rod combination using String of Pearls (SOP) locking plates.
