The incidence of osteoarthritis of hip joint was recorded in 316 dogs. The highest incidence was observed in Labrador Retrievers (43.35%) followed by Pug (9.81%), German shepherd (9.49%), Non-descript (7.91%), Golden Retrievers (8.23%), Spitz (6.96%), Doberman (3.16%), Great Dane (3.16%). Male dogs represented more (58.54%) than female (41.46%). Highest incidence was noticed in the age group of less than one year (35.13%), followed by 1-5 yr (33.54%), 6-10 yr (21.2%) and more than 10 yr (10.13%). Bilateral affections of hip joint were more (65.19%) than unilateral (34.81%), with more of left hip (56.36%) than the right (43.64).
