We are not untouched by the changes taken place around us in the area of marketing during the previous century. Initially, it was direct marketing we are aware of. Then we came across many different versions of marketing. Now it is not just limited to the big business persons, instead comes under the reach of a common man. Network marketing is the biggest example for this statement. A person possessing dedication, hard work, team-spirit, commendable communication skills, good networking can earn through this marketing system. But there is another system of marketing which is often confused with network marketing named pyramid marketing schemes. So this paper is an attempt to draw a line of demarcation between legitimate network marketing practices and illegitimate pyramid marketing practices.
