In the present scenario the development in India is taking place with a very faster rate. The government is gradually achieving its objective of nation development by converting the cities into smart cities. Government is trying to make every city a smart city with the use of technology and infrastructure development. The sustainable development of a city includes Infrastructure development, Industrial development and Technological development. The main purpose of every development is raising the standard of living of the citizens and to develop the technical and infrastructural facilities to speed up the pace of leading a life with the use of improved transportation, latest technology and communication facilities. The smart city empowers the citizen to lead a better life. Besides the government policies and agencies, every citizen plays an important role to make a city a smart city. Each and every citizen can contribute to the best of their abilities to change the thought of the society. Kota Nagar Nigam is also seeking the involvement of the citizens to develop a kota into a smart city. It is a responsibility of every citizen to spread awareness and contribute their best to make a world a better place to live in. The responsible citizens choose the government and make the government agencies accountable for doing their duties as well as perform their own duties towards the nation. Therefore the purpose of this article is to discuss the role of citizens in making kota city a smart city.
