Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analysis the digital image processing technique for the detection and the restoration of the cracks. Numerous methods have been proposed for the detection and restoration of the cracks in digitized painting. In this review existing methods have been critically analysed based on mathematical morphology top-hat transform for crack detection, and a modified adaptive median filter for restoration of cracks during 2010–2015. The methodology performs very well on digitized paintings suffering from cracks.
