Abstract

Aging is a process that starts with birth and goes on throughout the life. Life styles associated with different stages in life are roles that culture defines. Images of the old age on the television cultivate our concept of aging and the roles that we assume at specific age. The television thus remains a wholesale distributor of images. It forms the mainstream of our popular culture and presents a world of places, people and roles as molded into it. Most of us experience this world with little selectivity or deviation and do so for and average of 30 hours a week. The portrayal of individuals in the media usually affects the way the public perceives and treats them. The study focuses on the curiosity of television programmes at different stages of life.
