Constraints and Challenges in Hydro Power Development

Development of hydropower projects in india,has considerably slowed down in last decade due to multiple issues resulting in mismatch of ideal ratio of thermal: hydro mix of installed capacity. Apart from inherent constraints of working in limited construction spaces, high altitude issues, geological surprises, there are good number of constraints and challenges which are now cropping up and hampering further development of hydro projects. This paper attempts to describe constraints and challenges faced by developers and suggests some remedial measures for speedy development.
