Power House structure is an important component of a Hydro Electric Power Project, having very complex geometry due to E & M requirements such as cut outs, blockouts openings etc. and is subjected to different kinds of loads. in such structures having complex geometry and subjected to various kinds of loads, the use of numerical methods becomes very important to arrive at the results with greater accuracy required for such structures for its economical and safe design. This paper gives an overview of numerical techniques for analysis and design of under construction underground power house structures of Sawra Kuddu HEP (111MW) and Sainj HEP (100 MW) with FEM based softwares such as ANSYS, FENAS and STAAD Pro.
