Lecturer,
Learning is the synthesis and churning of the mind, so that innovative and creative ideas emanate. It is not a one-shot affair; rather it is a constant endeavour of human beings. In this turbulent environment, where changes occur rapidly, one has to build up an organisation that keeps on infusing new influx of knowledge and a work culture that is dynamic and adaptive. Today, traditional and rigidly structured organisations cannot sustain any more as they are strictly adhering to conventional practices. The world today is encompassing the whole gamut of drastic changes in social, cultural, economic, political, legal and global environments. In order to acclimatise with such changes, enterprises have to mobilise a new work ethic. There is a plethora of diverse workforce who comes from different cultures, backgrounds, countries, etc. Managing such a heterogeneous workforce requires creation of a responsive organisation and a vibrant work culture. This paper will do so through emphasis on the usefulness of a learning organisation in today's business environment along with some inferences from leading multinationals.
