RBC, WBC, platelets, and plasma make up the four main components of blood, which is an essential and specialised fluid in the body. Many vital functions depend on it, such as the transport of immune cells and antibodies to fight infections, the creation of clots to halt excessive bleeding, the supply of oxygen and nutrients to tissues, and the elimination of waste products by the liver and kidneys. Blood also helps regulate body temperature. Donated blood can be a life-saving resource for those who have experienced significant blood loss due to severe accidents, conflicts, large-scale disasters, or surgeries. It is also essential for patients with severe anemia or dangerously low platelet counts resulting from hematological conditions like sickle cell anemia or from treatments like cancer therapy.
There is expected to be a significant relationship between understanding and attitude toward blood donation and specific demographic factors.
“Non-experimental research design was employed, with 100 participants selected through convenience sampling at Seedling School of Nursing, JNU, Jaipur. In accordance with the goals of the study, data were gathered via a self-structured questionnaire and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics.”
The overall mean understanding score was 13.65 + 6.070, equating to a mean percentage of 45.50%. For attitude, the overall mean score was 41.65 +10.56, translating to a mean percentage of 52.06%.
