Abstract

This paper discusses the Design & analysis of a conical horn antenna with high gain, light weight, circularly polarized, suppressed side lobes for space applications. The procedure is simple and determines the physical dimensions of a conical horn that determine the performance of the whole antenna. The length, flare angle, aperture diameter of the conical antenna is examined. These dimensions will determine the required characteristics such as impedance matching, radiation pattern of the antenna etc. The antenna is designed and simulated by using PCAAD Software. The measured results of the constructed antenna confirmed the simulation results and satisfied the design requirements, validating the proposed design procedure.
