Abstract

Wireless local area network [1] has become most promising and successful technology in recent years. It provides free wireless connectivity between two or more devices by using a wireless communication method. It is also known as Wi-Fi standards: IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a and 802.llg etc. WiMAX is another wireless technology that is used in wireless metropolitan area network and wireless wide area network. WiMAX standards are IEEE 802.16–2004, IEEE 802.16e etc. In this paper we analyzed Bit Error Rate for Wi-Fi and WiMAX standards by using an appropriate coding scheme. Also we compare the coding BER results with non-coding BER results. The MATLAB coding is used to calculate the bit error rate for different extensions of IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.16e system model that minimize the number of communication error. Here we have used different modulation schemes [2] and OFDM technique to obtain higher data rate and achieve good BER.
