Management Education in India-Quality Pitfalls

Abstract

It has been seen in the past that institutions which accept the reality and follow the dynamics of changes have survived, others just lost out in the sprint or even vanished from the canvas. In the changing scenario of business environment, need of the skilled people equipped with the experience of practical case studies is realised by the industry. Management education is considered as royal and white- collared professional course as it attracts young people which are usually fascinated by the air conditioned working environment. Management education in India has been witnessing an exponential growth in terms of the number of management institutions also termed as ‘business schools’ as well as in the number of intake of the students.

Within the above framework, this paper attempts to look into the present situation of management education in India and also to find out the pitfalls to quality management education in India. This paper will add a bit of information and will be helpful for the future researches in this area.
