Abstract

Nanotechnology and Nanoscience are the new frontiers in the upliftment of human development. It elaborates the atomic and molecular structures of the size 10−9 metres that form the basic characteristics of anything that exists. The application of nanotechnology in food science is wide ranging right from the cultivation and reception of materials using nanosensors and nanotechniques; storage, processing, safety, biosecurity and smart packaging of food materials uses a range of nano-applications such as nanotracers, nanoemulsions, nano-structured materials and nanoparticles. Because of their ‘nanoscience’, these materials exhibits exceptional feature to develop innovative features such as stain-resistant fabrics, nutraceuticals, low dosage pesticides, self-cleaning windows, etc.
