Bamboo fiber (BBF) reinforced self compatibilizing polypropylene (CFPP) composite (35/65 BBF/CFPP) has been developed by Palsule process. Composite has been processed by co-rotating twin screw extruder and injection molding machine. Tensile and flexural mechanical properties of the composite are higher than those of the CFPP matrix. Formation of the composite is due to in-situ fiber/matrix interfacial adhesion as established by Field Emission Scanning Electron Micrograph (FE-SEM). Esterification and hydrogen bonding between BBF and CFPP imparting fiber/matrix adhesion has been established by Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy.
