Abstract

The high pressure compression behavior of various nanomaterials have been studied using isothermal equations of state, i.e. Usual Tait's equation, Sharma and Kumar EOS, and modified Usual Tait's equation. The results obtained from the modified usual Tait's equation are compared with the other equations of state considered and also with the available experimental data. It is found that the result obtained from the modified formulation agrees well with the experimental data and other equations of state. The present study thus justifies the validity and applicability of the present equation of state in nanomaterials successfully. Also the variation in bulk modulus for γ-Al2O3 (37 nm) is calculated using the different equations of state. It is found that the bulk modulus increases as pressure across the nanomaterial increases. It is found that the modified form of the Usual Tait's EOS is mathematically and thermodynamically consistent.
