Biometrics is a process to identify a person and is based on physical and biological traits of the subject. With the use of the biological features of an individual identification and authentication of person can be done. Lip print biometric system is a new approach which is now in use for identification purpose. These lip prints are individual in nature just like the fingerprints and never change throughout the life. Lips contain lines and grooves which make these prints individualistic in nature. Present paper describes how Hough's algorithm is useful to extract the lip features for their further use in identification. In the process sample is taken on the paper and is converted in to a digital image. It is binarized and pre-processed to make the lip feature clearer. This digital image of lip print with extracted features is matched with the stored data-base and can be then used for identification in crime cases.
