The neck pain is very common these days. The disorder arises from both psychological and biomechanical factors. Hand is the functional unit in the human body used in holding articles of various shapes and sizes. Hand grip is the amount of static force that can squeeze around hand-held dynamometer or an index of the power which it can exert.
An experimental study was conducted on 50 individual subjects with a history of neck pain radiating to arm. Grip strength and pain readings were measured before the commencement of the study and on the completion of the study for group A and group B differing on the basis of treatment given.
Paired t-test was applied to statistically analyse within the group and between the group readings for pain and grip strength.
By the virtue of this study, it can be concluded that spinal mobilization with arm movement (SMWAM) is more beneficial in improving grip strength and pain in subjects with radiating pain of cervical origin.
