Iodoarenes are cross coupled with terminal alkynes and arynes in presence of copper carbonate in Dimethyl fomamide at 125°C to offered substituted alkynes in good-to-moderate yield. The reaction features the use of CuCO3 which act as efficient base as well as catalyst to promote the reaction. The newly developed protocol has been successfully employed for the synthesis of substituted internal alkynes.
