Arithmetic logic unit performs addition, subtraction, logical, multiply, shift and code converting operations. It is an important part of processor architecture and used for its applications. Multiplexers are used for selecting various operations based on the control inputs. Common hardware is used. Optimised control over area, power and delay has been achieved in implementing 32-b unit. Soft computing tools have been used.
