Abstract

The approach adopted for detecting stepping-stone intrusion of host system is based upon the idea of estimation of number of connections of interaction sessions by using the round-trip-times (RTTs). The clue of this method is to match a particular packets or a chunk of data by computing the RTT of each chunk of data. Existing classical methods focus on matching with echo-packet RTTs which suffer from some trade-offs. This paper proposes to use a specific algorithm for estimations RTTs to prove accurate matching.
