In this paper, a small size printed microstrip antenna for Wireless Local Area Network and X band applications is suggested. The suggested antenna consists of an arrow-shaped patch on front view of FR4 substrate and a partial ground on the other side. The overall size of the antenna is 12 × 15 × 1.6 mm3. The antenna parameters are optimised using Finite Element Method-based HFSS software. The operating ranges of frequencies include from 5.1 GHz to 6 GHz and 7.55 GHz to 12.06 GHz. The proposed antenna displays a good omnidirectional radiation pattern and gain.
