Abstract

Epidemiological and clinico-therapeutic studies were made on fifteen clinical cases of theileriosis calves presented to TVCSC, COVAS, Udgir during August 2008 to July 2009. The disease occurrence was found to be higher in indigenous calves below 2 months of age during winter. Clinically, fever, tachycardia, polypnea, reduced appetite, dullness, pale to icteric mucous membrane and enlargement of lymph-nodes was observed. Haematological examination revealed anaemia. PM examination showed icterus, hepatomegaly and ulcers in abomasum. The cases were diagnosed on the basis of clinical findings, laboratory investigations and blood smear examination. Treatment with combination therapy of diminazine aceturate and oxytetracycline along with haematinics and B-complex was found effective.
