Correction and management of uterine prolapse and retained placenta in cows at Faridpur, Bangladesh

Abstract

A total of 7 (seven) cases of uterine prolapse and retained placenta of cow was corrected during the period of Nov'07 to Jan'08 at Thana Veterinary Hospital in Madhukhali Upazila under Faridpur district of Bangladesh. Most of the uterine prolapsed and retained placenta was found immediately or within one (1) hour of calving. In this study 4 cases of uterine prolapse, 1 cases of uterine prolapsed with retained placenta and 2 cases of retained placenta were corrected. Replacement of everted organ of uterine prolapse and retained placenta was done manually following proper precautionary measure. Among them all cases of uterine prolapse and retained placenta was completely recovered.
