Efficacy of oxytetracycline and doxycycline in the treatment of canine ehrlichiosis

Abstract

Ten dogs of different age, breed and sex, diagnosed to have Ehrlichia infection were randomly divided into two groups consisting of 5 in each. Group I received Oxytetracycline @ 20 mg/Kg body weight I/V at 12 hours interval, and group II received Doxycycline @ 10 mg/Kg body weight 12 hourly, orally daily for 14 days along with the symptomatic and supportive treatment.Both the groups showed 100 per cent recovery after treatment.
