PPR suspected samples from Chickaballapur and Bangalore Rural districts of Karnataka were brought for confirmation. The samples comprises of Blood, nasal, conjuntival and feacal swabs taken aseptically from the clinically suspected animals. The nuclear protein of PPR virus-specific monoclonal antibody based sandwich- ELISA kit developed by National Rinderpest Laboratory, Division of Virology, IVRI, Mukteswar was used to analyse the samples. Out of the Thirty three samples collected thirteen samples were positive for PPRV confirming the outbreak of PPR in the two southern districts of Karnataka during the period of April to December 2008.
