Abstract

A goat kid with an oedematous swelling on either side of the neck was clinically examined. The other possibilities of enlargement were ruled out. The initial treatment comprised of iodised salts given with milk for 2 weeks and tincture iodine @ 2ml intraruminally on weekly basis for 2 weeks. Nonsignificant clinical response was observed even after 2 weeks of treatment. Thyroxine sodium @ 0.2mg/kg was then administered orally. Significant reduction in clinical symptoms within 45 days was followed by complete recovery.
