Fourteen cases of dermal exposure to coal tar in dogs is reported and discussed. In four cases, signs of toxicosis were also evident. Treatment adopted with glycerin application, kerosene cleaning. lactocalamine local application, fluid therapy, diuretics, steroid, antihistaminics and charcoal led to recovery in 12/14 (85.71%) cases. This appears to be the first report of dermal exposure to coal tar in dogs with its successful management.
