A Black Bengal goat aged 3 years was presented with complaint of inability to deliver foetus even after lapse of 24 hours following completion of gestation. The clinical examination revealed torsion of the uterus near the cervix in anti-clock wise direction and the cervical opening was too constricted to admit a finger. Animal was operated under local infiltration of lignocaine 2% and a large dead fetus was removed from the left uterine horn. The goat made uneventful recovery.
