Abstract

Schistosomiosis is an parasitic infection among caprines and many a times it goes unnoticed. In India, S. nasale, S. spindale and S. indicum were recorded among the goats. Present investigation describes the Schistosomiosis among the goats suffering with diarrhoea. Upon coprological examination and micrometry schistosomiosis caused by S. spindale was confirmed with spindale shaped ova. On epidemiological investigation, grazing of goats in snails (Lymnea species) infested area may be the major risk involved in transmission of Schistosomiosis. All the affected animals were treated with Triclabendazole @ 10 mg/kg body weight orally and found to be effective against Schistosoma spindale.
