Lameness in bovines results in discomfort, pain, injury and distress causing reduced mobility and feed intake, losses of body weight negatively affecting animal productivity and reproduction. Adequate nutrition and proper management play significant role in production and maintenance of healthy hoof. Adequate feeding management is important during the transition period for unavoidable physiological and behavioural changes responsible for metabolic disorders and lameness. Optimal vitamin and mineral nutrition are also essential for production and maintenance of healthy hoof. Feeding and mangemental strategies based on requirements and combined consistent efforts of the owners, employed labour, veterinarian and nutritionist are indicated for effective control of this menace to ensure sustainable productivity and fertility in dairy bovines.
