Patagial Tendon Injury and its Surgical Management in Peacocks (Pavo cristatus)

Patagial tendon injury was diagnosed in two adult peacocks (Pavo cristatus). Clinical examination revealed alertness and entangled kite string severing propatagium from leading edge of the wing, patagial tendon and bicep muscle in left wing of both birds. The patagial tendon was sutured in interrupted fashion, bicep muscle was opposed with interrupted sutures and propatagium in continuous manner under isoflurane anesthesia. Post surgery the wing was stabilized with figure of eight bandage using vet wrap. Both birds made an uneventful recovery.
