The present study describes the closed method of interlocking nailing in dogs. The study was carried out in six dogs between age groups of 1 to 7yrs, with diaphyseal femoral fracture. The interlocking nail was inserted into medullary cavity in a normograde fashion using C-arm image intensifier without opening the fracture site, under general anesthesia. The dogs started complete weight bearing on affected limb on third post-operative day and mean values of haemato-biochemical parameters during the study were within the normal range. This study found that C-arm image intensifier interlocking nailing technique took less surgical time, relatively non invasive and dogs exhibited early weight bearing with minimal pain score.
