Tibial Fracture and its Surgical Management using Internal and External Fixation in a Black buck

Abstract

A case of midshaft comminuted fracture of left tibia in black buck was immobilized with intramedullary pinning in a retrograde fashion and circlage wiring supported by plaster cast under xylazine and ketamine anaesthesia. The healing progress was assessed by periodical radiological examination. Animal showed uneventful recovery with complete weight bearing on affected limb after three months.
