Clinical Management of Foot Rot in Bovines

Foot Rot in cows was reported with history of lameness and depression in milk yield. Examination of foot revealed cellulitis and liquefactive necrosis in the interdigital space with a foul odor. Typically cows raised the affected limb off the ground while standing and were reluctant to move with reduced appetite. Parenteral anti-bacterials, anti-inflammatory, antipyretics, wound dressing and supportive therapy was given for five days. Wound dressing and mineral mixture supplementation was continued till complete recovery.
