Abstract

The case study was undertaken in a Doberman pincher dog having gradual perineal swelling over a period of one and half month. Radiograph of affected region revealed fold of intestine containing hard faecal mass confirming perineal hernia. After supportive treatment with fluid, vitamin and enema, surgical correction was performed using a non absorbable synthetic surgical mesh by giving an elliptical incision over the swollen mass. A course of antibiotic, anti-histaminic and anti-inflammatory were given post-operatively. The dog recovered uneventfully.
