Clinical Management of Malasseziosis in a Dog

Abstract

A male Labrador dog of 8 months old presented with history of alopecia for past seven days. Moist erythrematous lesions on pinna of ear, ventral and lateral parts of abdomen were observed. Impression smear revealed budding yeast cells of Malassezia spp. organisms were confirmed as Malassezia pachydermatis by culture and isolation and urease test. Animal was successfully treated with Ketoconazole.
