A clinical trial was conducted to evaluate comparative efficacy of two antibiotic combinations against deep pyoderma. Twelve affected dogs in Group I treated with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid combination at the dose rate of 20 mg/kg b.w. I/V showed 83.3% recovery within a mean period of 6.67 ± 0.17 days whereas, equal number of dogs in Group II treated with ceftriaxone+tazobactam formulation in the same dose schedule revealed 100 percent recovery within 4.56 ±0.24 days. Therapeutic efficacy of ceftriaxone-tazobactam combination was superior to that of clavulanic acid potentiated amoxicillin against deep pyoderma in dogs for early clinical recovery.
