Clinical Evaluation of Methyl Predisolone Sodium Succinate (MPSS) for Management of Accidental Paresis in Canines -A Report of 6 Patients

Six dogs with accidental paresis were subjected to neurological limb response examination. The reflexes of rear limb were evaluated and graded as per standard clinical methods. Therapeutics efficacy of Methyl prednisolone sodium succinate was evaluated in treating dogs with accidentally paresis. Hind limb reflexes like patellar reflex showed improvement in 13.8% of the cases for left limb and 16.6% of the cases of right limb. There was 8.3% improvement in gastrocnemius reflex of left rear limb and 2.7% in right rear limb. For anterior tibial and flexor reflex there was improvement in 8.3% and 22.2% of cases after treatment, respectively. Therapeutic efficacy of combination of Methyl prednisolone sodium succinate, Vitamin B-complex and physiotherapy was effective in curing cases of accidental paralysis with a success rate of 50.0%.
