Abstract

A graded murrah buffalo in 5th lactation and calved 8 weeks back was presented with signs of passing dark red coloured urine, anorexia, dullness, depression and sudden drop in milk production. It was diagnosed as an acute case of post parturient haemoglobinuria by estimating biochemical and haemotological parameters showing hypophosphataemia, decreased erythrocytic count, haemoglobin and haematocrit. The buffalo was treated with parentral phosphorous, haematinics and other supportive therapy. Serum phosphorous and other parameters were revived to normalcy.
