Abstract

The present study was undertaken to evaluate a newer biocide, hexamethyldisilazane against ticks of cattle, sheep and dogs. The study showed good efficacy in in-vitro test at all concentrations (0.5 ml, 1 ml and 2 ml) against different stages of ticks viz. Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Haemaphysalis intermedia. Ovicidal efficacy against ticks ranged from 76–100%. The engorged female adulticidal, larvicidal and nymphicidal efficacy was 100% against all concentrations, where as efficacy against adult male ticks ranged from 90–100%.
