Abstract

Twenty one Graded Murrah buffaloes aged between 3–8 years were found to have ovarian abnormalities i.e 16 buffaloes with smooth ovaries, 05 buffaloes with cystic ovaries during screening with history of anoestrus, irregular oestrum or conception failure or repeat breeding. The findings were confirmed by consecutive weekly per-rectum examination. Treatment with polyherbs led to exhibition of oestrus in 70% of buffaloes with smooth ovaries. Buffaloes with cystic ovaries were treated with GnRH (0 day) and PGF2α (7th day) followed by GnRH (day 9) and fixed time Artificial Insemination (18 hours after last GnRH treatment) was effective in resolving the cysts and breeding on the induced estrous resulted in 80% conception rate.
