Diarrhea in two equines was diagnosed and managed therapeutically. The clinical, hematological, biochemical and acid base examinations before and after treatment and the microbiological and parasitic examination of feaces was carried out. Hematological examination revealed leucocytosis along with neutrophilia. Biochemical examination revealed hypoprotienemia, hypoalbuminea, hypokalemia, increase in BUN and creatinine. Microbiological analysis revealed presence of E.coli organisms in feaces along with metabolic acidosis. A marked improvement was seen in both the cases following treatment with balanced electrolyte solution, analgesic, antibiotic and sodium bicarbonate.
