The present study was conducted to evaluate different therapeutic regimens for management of contagious ecthyma in 72 small ruminants (53 sheep and 19 goats). Contagious ecthyma was confirmed based on characteristic clinical findings. The animals were randomly divided into three equal groups, group I, group II, and group III comprising of 24 animals in each group. Animals of group I were treated with Enrofloxacin along with application of boroglycerine ointment showed 100% recovery within 15.83±2.31, whereas animals of group II were treated with Oxytetracycline along with application topical antibacterial also recovered 100% within 17.17±1.64 days. However, animals of group III were treated with topical application of povidone iodine, antibiotic and cortisone ointment showed only 79% recovery in 25.67±1.98 days. In conclusion, administration of parenteral antibiotics in combination with topical antiseptic is highly effective for management of contagious ecthyma in sheep and goats.
