Abstract

The study was conducted in eight crossbred cows with sole ulcers. Animals with sole ulcers in their claws (either lateral or medial) were confirmed by direct visual examination of the claw sole, before and after claw trimming. Sole ulcers were dressed with Copper sulphate and Zinc sulphate in 1:1 ratio every 5th day. A significant improvement was observed every 5th day quantified by taking dimensions of sole ulcers. Sole ulcers with more depth took more time to heal irrespective of their approximate area. It was concluded that Copper sulphate and Zinc sulphate can be effectively used for topical treatment of sole ulcers.
