Abstract

The study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of Pimobendan in the management of congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs. CHF was diagnosed by history, physical examination, hematology, blood biochemistry, electrocardiography and echocardiography. Twelve dogs were randomly allotted to two treatment groups I and II. Group I underwent treatment with conventional drugs like Frusemide, Spironolactone, Enalapril with or without Digoxin and Group II animals along with conventional treatment were administered Pimobendan. Monitoring of the animals over a period of 2 months indicated that Pimobendan was beneficial in the management of CHF.
