Otoscopic Evaluation in Dogs with Ear Canal Affections-A Clinical Study

Otoscopic evaluation of external ear canal and tympanic membrane in thirty (30) dogs with clinical symptoms indicative of ear canal affections was conducted to assess the pathophysiological changes. All dogs had aural hematoma except one showed apparently healthy ear canal. One dog with bilateral aural hematoma showed caseous purulent discharge with ceruminoliths. Some dogs with aural hematoma showed presence of dermatological lesions like pyoderma, demodicosis and atopy. The ear canal of dogs affected with otitis externa were found to be showing caseous or purulent discharge, cerumen accumulation and ear canal stenosis.
