Abstract

15 dogs with proptosis of eyeball have been reviewed, discussed and were surgical managed during the study. The ages of affected dogs ranged from two months to 8 years. The breeds encountered were Mongrels (5), Spitz (4), Pugs (4) and Shih tzu (2). Nine of the dogs affected were males. Enucleation was performed in three (3) dogs and globe was replaced in twelve (12) dogs. Only three dogs regained normal vision. Complications like corneal ulceration, exposure keratopathy leading to pigmentary keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis sicca and phthisis bulbis were recorded.
