A Rottweiler male dog was presented with history of inappetence, lethargy and difficulty in taking food. Clinical examination revealed high temperature, normal oral and conjunctival mucous membrane and slightly swollen submandibular lymph nodes. Examination of head revealed trismus and hollowing of temporal fossa suggestive of muscular atrophy, resulting in skull like contour of head. Radiography of head revealed no abnormalities of bone, diagnosed as Masticatory Muscle Myositis (MMM) and treated with immunosuppressive dose of corticosteroids. The animal recovered uneventfully.
